I really enjoy learning English idioms on this forum. Thanks for your efforts all the time, Anthony! Here is my request. Can you teach us simple idioms/expressions you native speakers use on daily-basis? Something probably useful for text messages for example. Things like, "can't hold of her/him" or "I will be down". Are these expressions or idioms really correct? And if so, how do you use them? And let us know other usuful idioms/ expressions. Cheers!

The first one should be can't get hold of her/him

Let me start the first phone idiom with a question.
I usually keep in touch with my friends via email. How do you keep in touch with your friends?

When writing messages to your friends via email, be careful not to write in CAPITAL LETTERS! In English texts or English emails, we often use capital letters to show that someone is SHOUTING!!!!!! You can imagine that if you YELL or SHOUT at someone they probably won't like it.

When I email my friends I often write using abbreviations. For example, instead of writing thanks, I write THX.

What do the following English phone abbreviations mean? (They are also popular English internet chat abbreviations).

THX
l8r
M8
cu
ttyl
asap
bbiab
bbl

English phone expressions

Yesterday I was talking on the phone when the phone cut out. Maybe the reception dropped out or maybe she hung up on me. I wasn't sure which.

What happened to me yesterday???
What do the English phone expressions cut out, drop out and hang up mean?

Please try to give your own English definitions!

The phone cut out: You lose the connection on the phone all of sudden, For example, suddenly you can't hear your party's voice or your voice can't carry to your party.

Drop out: disapper?????

Hang up: You or your party cut out the phone on purpose.

#1 Nice answer!
#2 Yes good! Be careful of spelling>> Disappear.
#3 Good, but I am going to reword it a little bit. Hang up: Someone deliberately stop the phone call.
